Wales National Air Show takes to skies

Bristol Blenheim

Bristol Blenheim on Swansea mission

Breathtaking aerobatic displays, state-of-the-art aircraft and vintage planes take to the skies over Swansea this summer when the free Wales National Air Show returns to the city from 1-2 July.

More than 200,000 people packed the seafront last year to enjoy displays including the Red Arrows, a Eurofighter Typhoon, Chinook helicopters and aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

This year a Bristol Blenheim, extensively used during the first two years of the World War II, has been added to the line-up. Around 50 Blenheims supported the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940 by harassing enemy forces.

Ground-based entertainment includes tanks, military support vehicles, an assault course and marquees with information on careers in the Armed Forces.
