Drinking thinkers’ crawl continues

The Thinking Drinkers

An intoxicating taste of pub trivia

Award-winning drinks writers and comedy performers Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham have had a busy schedule since embarking on their bar crawl around the UK in October last year but after a break over the Christmas period they're back on the road again later this month.

As educational as it is entertaining, The Thinking Drinkers Pub Crawl is a riotous and intoxicating exploration of history’s greatest drinking establishments – an especially pertinent celebration given the fact it's estimated that 18 pubs are closing every week.

Three-times British Beer Writer of the Year McFarland and former spirits and cocktail magazine editor Sandham have hit upon a winning formula since they debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011 and their interactive imbibing experience has been going down a storm... but when every single audience member gets to taste five fabulous drinks for free it's not hard to understand why.

Beginning with the cerebral wine-sipping symposiums of ancient Greece via Wild West saloons, Victorian gin palaces and all the way through to the classic Great British pub, The Thinking Drinkers wander through the world’s most wonderful watering holes, while furnishing their audience with some samples of seriously delicious drinks.

Drinks columnists for the Daily Telegraph newspaper, the drinking thinkers regularly contribute to an array of international publications including the Spectator, Esquire, Shortlist, Times, Guardian, Time Out London, Conde Nast Traveller, Imbibe Magazine and the Independent.

Both regularly appear on radio and television espousing their “drink less drink better” message and are experts for Channel Four’s Sunday Brunch.
