It’s Glastonbury Calling

Glastonbury Calling

Six stages of up-and-coming bands

From humble beginnings in 2016, Glastonbury Calling is expanding to two days when it returns to the town next month for its fourth year.

When organisers decided to put on a multi-venue event in a quiet Somerset town during the off-season it was unsurprisingly met with a little scepticism but with a lot of hard work from the team behind the event and volunteers who give up their time to support the cause it has blossomed into a fun-filled weekend that brings the whole community together.

From four venues in 2016 the event has now expanded to six, with the Hawthorns Hotel, The Bocabar/Red Brick, The King Arthur, The Riflemans Arms, The Assembly Rooms and Tor Leisure all getting into the party spirit from 22-23 February 2019.

The event was set up with the aim of giving up-and-coming acts exposure and raising funds for Glastonbury FM, the town's community radio station. And in its first three years the festival has raised more than £6,000 for Glastonbury FM and helped launch many new acts with this year's event bringing Brandon Block, 2DRUNK2FUNK, Forgive & Forget and Starborn7 to The Bocabar on Friday night.

On Saturday the acts playing across the six stages include Dakar Audio Club, King Tut's Revenge, UK:ID, Meeking, Heavy Lungs, Ant Noel & The Peabody Drakes, Oxygen Thief, Emily Breeze, Phoxjaw, Hoodoo Blue, Sinful Maggie, Some Villains, Kangaroo Moon, and more many.
