Minehead makes a great Alternative

The Great British Alternative Music Festival

Skids, Undertones, Big Country and Toyah heading to Somerset

If you grew up in the 1970s and '80s the names Angelic Upstarts, Peter and the Test Tube Babies and The Members will probably mean a lot more to you than some of the new bands making waves on radio stations around the country at the moment.

It was a great era for music and something The Great British Alternative Music Festival is proud to celebrate, bringing the best names from that era to Minehead for three days in March... with Peter and the Test Tube Babies, The Members and the Angelic Upstarts just a few of the great bands lined up to rock your socks off.

Taking place at the Somerset Butlins resort from 8-11 March, the festival features heavyweights such as the Skids, The Undertones, Big Country, Hazel O’Connor, Toyah, 999, Sham 69, Anti-Nowhere League, Bad Manners, Department S, The Lambrettas, The Vapors and the UK Subs.

With other names to look out for including The Lurkers, Blockheads, From The Jam, Neville Staple Band, Peter Hook and the Light, Ed Tudor Pole, GBH and The Rezillos.

But the festival is not just about past masters of the alternative scene, the introducing stage will see performances by some of the new names making a big impression around the country including Charred Hearts, Criminal Mind, Falling Apart, Kid Klumsy, Knock Off, Plague UK, Ramonas, Resistance '77, The F*ckwits, The Outfit, The Papashangos and The Tokyo Rankers.
