Blues on the boil in York

York Blues Festival

Blues fundraiser at The Crescent

Bringing together 10 of the finest blues acts from across the region, York Blues Festival takes place at The Crescent on 6 April 2019.

Organised by York-based DC Blues, the festival is raising money for their chosen charity, Charlies-Angel-Centre Foundation, which supports bereaved parents and families.

DC Blues have been playing their take on “the blues” with original material and selected covers since 2012 and feature Eli Doummar on lead guitar, Paul Winn on lead vocals, backed up by Ben Darwin on bass and Chris Chidlow on drums.

Also playing at the festival, which runs from 1-11pm, are Groove-A-Matics, who consist of lead guitarist Johnny Whitehill, vocalist Mick Cantwell, plus the solid rhythm section of John Morgan and Barry Race. They have played at all of the major blues festivals in the UK as well as the prestigious Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Brunswick, Canada, alongside the likes of John Mayall, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Keb Mo amongst many others.

The festival also features the Emma Wilson Band, Soulcasters, Steve Fulsham Band, The Achievers, TC Blues Band, Dogfinger Steve, Mike Darwin, plus The Blueflies, led by guitarist Miles Gilderdale and featuring Paul Stipetic on drums, vocals and guitar, and Tony Stipetic on bass and vocals.
