Liverpool remembers decades of musical innovation

Liverpool International Music Festival

Sefton Park the place for Summer Jam

Liverpool International Music Festival celebrates its fifth birthday this year with the theme ‘Remember The Times’, a showcase of pivotal moments throughout the decades which provided the springboard for genres such as hip-hop, house and pop.

The four-day celebration of new talent, big names, musical heritage and cultural diversity takes place from 20-23 July and combines the award-winning LIMF Academy and LIMF Presents events, with the highlight being the LIMF Summer Jam which sees artists from around the world performing in the stunning splendour of Sefton Park.

Summer Jam, a free event from the Friday to Sunday of the festival, will include performances on the Central Stage by Gorgon City, Corinne Bailey Rae, Naughty Boy, Jax Jones, Fleur East, JP Cooper and many more; while artists such as Tieks, MJ Cole, DJ Target, Logan Sama, Ras Kwame, Elijah & Skilliam will take to the decks at the new DJ Stage.

The award-winning Academy Stage returns as a platform for rising stars; while the Itsliverpool Stage will showcase past, present and future homegrown talents including The Christians, Jane Weaver, the Tea Street Band and Andy Mac.

Starting on Thursday there is also a series of LIMF Presents events taking place at The Palm House in Sefton Park which will explore performances and projects focusing on the ‘Remember The Times’ theme.

Seamlessly woven together with various influences and innovative interpretations, the performances include ‘Good Times' with Norman Jay MBE, ‘Garage Classical' presented by DJ Spoony, ‘Circus Year One‘, ‘Reminisce: 90s R&B' with Trevor Nelson and ‘No Sleep' with DJ Stretch Armstrong.
