Five days of great live music

Chester Live Festival

Chester’s jumping to the sound of music

If you're not heading to Glastonbury this week then Chester wouldn't be a bad substitute if you happen to like great new music.

From 22-25 June Chester Live takes over the city with more than 110 bands playing across 14 venues.

The Chester Live Street Festival, an incredible free entry, community event on Brook Street, brings the curtain down on the main Chester Live Festival on Sunday when Chester’s most ethnically diverse street will be filled with live music from midday through to 9pm. The event will also include stalls from local independent traders and family entertainment along the full length of the street.

The main stage on Sunday will be headlined by Campfire Social with support on the day coming from from Indio's Dream, The Science of the Lamps, Tabitha Jade, Brazen Swagger, Cynic Notes, Nish Goyal, The Instinctive and Smiling Riley.

But the great music starts on Thursday when Led By Lanterns headline at St Werburgh Centre, with Massmatiks and the Hot 8 Brass Band on the bill at The Live Rooms, and Deckchair Protest and Sword Swinging Robot at The Cornerhouse.

Friday sees Creature Of Habit and Cry at St Werburgh Centre; Peaness and Campfire Social at Telford's Warehouse; Allusondrugs and Chupa Cabra at The Live Rooms; and Hitcari and HMS Morris at The Cornerhouse.

And the feast of fine live music doesn't end there with St Werburgh Centre, The Cornerhouse, The Live Rooms and The Piper also humming on Saturday to the tunes of The Cazales, Edits, Hollows, Somnium, Wide Eyed Boys and The Ghost Riders In The Sky.
