‘The Bieb’ switched on for Cardiff gig

Purpose World Tour

Heard lined up as Bieber support

Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber returns to the UK on Friday for one of two British gigs before heading back across the pond to Arlington in Texas.

And fans of "the Bieb" will have the added bonus of British singer Will Heard joining his Purpose World Tour for the gig at the Principality Stadium on 30 June.

The British musician joins American superstar Halsey in the huge show in Cardiff.

Heard entered the music mainstream back in 2013 after singing on Klangkarussell’s smash summer hit Sonnentanz and also did a hugely successful duet with Cara Delevigne, which now has more than 10 million views on YouTube.

Grammy-nominated Halsey is the main support for Bieber on his Purpose World Tour. Born in New Jersey, she went from being MTV's Artist to Watch to selling out Madison Square Garden to a Platinum-certified debut album, Badlands, in less than seven months in 2015.

Fans are being urged to plan ahead for Bieber's concert in Cardiff, with gates to the Principality Stadium opening at 4pm.

More than 40 000 people are expected to be in the city and the council is warning there will be a small road closure pre-event with Westgate Street, Park Street and Scott Road closing at 6pm.

After the event, as people leave the stadium, the road closures will be extended to cover parts of Cowbridge Road East, Castle Street, Duke Street and Wood Street.

Arriva Trains Wales is advising all customers that Cardiff Queen Street Station will close at 9.45pm and there will be a post event queuing system at Cardiff Central. There will be limited extra services after the concert and customers are advised to return directly to Cardiff Central after the concert.

Bieber's Purpose World Tour started on 9 March 2016 in Seattle and will end on 30 September this year in Manila, Philippines.

After Cardiff the Canadian crooner heads to London's Hyde Park on Sunday, 2 July, for the British Summer Time festival before heading to Arlington for a concert on 29 July.

Dates in Pasadena, Denver, Minneapolis, East Rutherford and Foxborough follow in August, before the singer heads home to Canada for a on-off September date in Toronto before concluding the tour with shows in Tokyo and Manila.
