Manchester goes punk for Easter

Manchester Punk Festival 2019

MPF heading for fifth incarnation

Heading into its fifth year, the Manchester Punk Festival takes place over Easter weekend and features some of the best bands currently bashing about on the UK and international punk circuit.

Organised in tandem by TNS Records, Anarchistic Undertones and Moving North... the event is a three-day, multi-venue festival that takes place from 19-21 April 2019.

The main stage this year is at The Union in Cambridge Street, where registration will take place, with other venues taking part including Gorilla, The Bread Shed, Zombie Shack, Thirsty Scholar, Underdog, Rebellion and Font Bar.

Underdog, a basement venue beneath Black Dog Ballroom, will host the almost-acoustic stage all weekend; with the poetry and comedy stage located at The Thirsty Scholar; and Rebellion being the focal for the after-party shenanigans.

The Font Bar serves as the festival hub and although there're no bands playing there it will be serving some wicked MPF cocktails, offering great food, and hosting the punk rock cinema.

Some of the bands already lined up for the event include UK punk legends Subhumans, Montreal psychobilly outfit The Creepshow, Brighton boys The Bar Stool Preachers, Manchester gems Crywank, Spanish tech beasts Adrenalized, and the relentless Millie Manders and The Shutup.

Other acts on the bill include Samiam, Smoke Or Fire, Dead To Me, King Prawn, Doom, Harijan, Restorations, A Vulture Wake, Stoj Snak, The Hard Aches, Templeton Pek, Catch-it Kebabs, Young Conservatives, The Zipheads, Harker, Skinny Milk, Nervus, Habits, 7 Years Bad Luck, Nosebleed, Casual Nausea, Perkie, Burning Flag, Big Joanie, Coproach, Billy Liar, Martyrials, Cheerbleederz, Salvo, Chloe Hawes, Batwolf and James Hull.
